Good weekend! :DD

My eldest brother got married, which was lots of fun!

Rob was messing about on Twitter and found the AQA Twitter feed with samples of rejected applicants' answers to questions. One of them was:

Q How much does the Mail on Sunday cost?

A No cost, post offices are closed on Sundays.

So I sent the question 'Why did god let my kitten die?' to AQA and got the following answer: God played no part in your kitten's death. It died due to a biological failure resulting in an inability to maintain life functions. Thanks for trying AQA. lolol

Sometimes I don't really believe I'm living in the capital of the UK and not in the back end of nowhere. Following on from the 36 hour power cut we had at home the other week, the water supply was cut off to our office today. Then this afternoon someone was shot 2 minutes round the corner from where I work D: Because of that all the streets were cordoned off, there were policemen and helicopters all over the place and I had to walk for about 25 minutes to find the nearest open bus stop to get home!

What the hell, London? Things weren't as bad as this when I lived in Russia.

I've been looking for flats on Gumtree messaged someone about a flat I saw.

I've just received the following email:

Hi,
My name is Vicky Step and I have the flat for rent.
The rent is 600£ per month including all bills and the concil tax.
I moved in Island because I got a new job. I work in a hospital. You can rent the flat as long as you need to stay even for 2 or 3 years.
The first payment will be for 2 months(1200£).
In case you want it, let me know so we can arrange the transaction.
For me is very hard to come in UK and if I will come i must be 100% sure that I will not come for nothing.
As you can see in the photos everything it's new in the flat and the flat is fully furnished, newly refurbished and also benefits from wood flooring.
- Toilet and Bathroom with Shower
- Kitchen with modern fittings
- Dish washer/Dryer
- Washing Machine
- Cable TV
- Wired Internet connection
-important parking place.
Please let me know what your intentions are....when you intend to move in?how long you want the contract to last for?how many people would be living in it and some other things you feel i should know.

I hope not a problem and understand my english that because I non-English

Get back to me

Regards

Well that all sounds like a jolly good idea and not at all dodgy....

I sent this email back:

Hi Vicky,

Thanks for the email. As good an idea as it sounds to send you £1200 without seeing the flat or meeting you, I think I'll pass on this offer.

Have fun in Island...

Regards

Two day long power cut, whoooooo. You wouldn't believe that we're living in London - this is the third power cut in 9 months.

Wasn't too bad really. The worst thing was there was no hot water and so I ended up going to the gym just to take a shower.

Mandy's boyfriend stayed over the first night and spent the evening saying 'What do we do without the telly?' and then listed what we could have been watching at about 15 minute intervals. Thank you Radio Times.

Mandy wandered about going 'What did people do during the war?'

Last night we went and bought tea lights made fajitas (gas stove!) and played cards. It was quite fun.

So, a proper update because I don't think I've done one for about 3 months.

Last weekend Rob and I went up to Leicestershire for the wedding of one of his school friends. He had the day off so went up during the day with one of his friends and I took the train from work. Jokingly I said to my boss, 'Oh I bet he forgets my stuff.' So to ensure this didn't happen I sent him a text message to remind him. When I got to the train station where he met me, he greeted me with, 'You're traveling light aren't you?' *facepalm*

So, Friday night was spent in 24hour Tesco raiding their clothing aisles. But, I did get this dress and these shoes )

Well, the shoes were from New Look the next morning as I had to go into the town to get a strapless bra to go with the dress. But the dress only cost £10! Bargin.

Yesterday, Rob, [info]gracefulstalker and I went to see a ~*rehearsed reading*~ of an excellent play called Valued Friends which was written in the 80s about the property boom and was incredibly and surprisingly apt at the moment. Nick Burns was playing one of the leads and he was very good. The theatre was tiny and almost everyone else there was the writer or a friend of the writer or in someway involved in the original performance of the play. Indulged in a little stalking in the bar after the play - touched Nick Burns and spoke to him! But only because he was stood by my friend who works in there and was organising drinks for the cast and I was passing her drink to her, so all I really said was, 'Excuse me,' but still! The writer Stephen Jeffries bumped into Grace and I a good few times.

Tonight, Grace, Becky and I were going to see You Have Been Watching being recorded, but when we got at the studio they had already given out all the wristbands. Grace did her level best to talk her way in but, alas, it was to no avail. We went to a pub across the road to get a drink and hopefully indulge in a spot more stalking. While we were there a guy at the bar started talking to Becky and told her she sounded very Welsh. He then asked if I was her sister because we have the same eyes - do we share a set or something? Anyway, he then seemed really confused by the fact that Becky's from Doncaster and I'm from Bristol but we are still friends. Somehow we managed to struggle through those cultural-social differences. He followed outside and started talking to us and told us that he'd get us into the filming because of some guy who was going to come out the side of the studio - idek? Then his friends came over - after joking about bending an old woman over her zimer frame and doing her from behind - and told us that they could cure lesbians....

So that was fun XD

Cut for long winded rant )

So anyway, Rob and I are moving out into our own flat once the contract's up here at the end of August. We're hoping to get a one or two bedroom flat for under £1000 a month. Is that being too optimistic? Does anyone know what the going rate for a flat in London is?

We've been receiving letters for the previous tenants since we moved in about nine months ago, but haven't done anything about it because apparently we are all to lazy to write 'return to sender' on some letters and pop them in the post box. Yesterday we got a letter stamped 'certified bailiffs' and we thought maybe we ought to open that letter, and yep, it was giving us 48 hours notice before someone came round and took our stuff o.O

Rob's genius plan was to phone the landlord and ask him to sort it out because apparently no-one else remembers his solutions to mousegate. I thought it would be better to just phone up and tell them that the person doesn't live there anymore. The man on the phone was surprisingly helpful and told me to send in a copy of our current tenancy agreement.

Rob phoned me today to tell me I was right - apparently Simon had written them a letter saying something along the lines of 'That person doesn't live there anymore. I don't think it's very fair to take these peoples' things to pay for fines that they don't owe. It's not very nice.'
